It adds a great ambiance to our family room. The fireplace used to be always dark because we just didn't use it. Now it brightens up the room and makes the room more warm and comfortable. Our guests comment on how attactive the fireplace is. Some can't believe it is electric. I especially like that it is energy efficient and non poluting; and of course, you don't have to worry about keeping a supply of wood, and cleaning out the ashes!

On the negative side, the insert was difficult to install because it was a very tight fit in our fireplace. It is heavy - kind of like an older style television - and I had to lean it and slide it to get it past the fireplace opening. In a bigger fireplace it would've been no problem. Also, I was a little disapointed in the heat output, even on the high setting. Another thing to consider is they recommend you block off your chimmey opening to prevent rain or snow from coming down onto the electric fireplace. That was difficult for me - climbing on the roof and trying to close off the top of the chimney.

Nice product, not cheesy like electric fireplaces of not too long ago. I strongly advise ordering a trim kit, which was mentioned as an option but not offered for sale???? Got the trim kit from a different website. We inset the fireplace in a wall, built a hearth, and rocked around it. Looks great!!
