We bought this product after much consideration. I went to a few showrooms that sold Dimplex to see a demonstration of the firebox, although none had this actual model on the floor. When my fireplace arrived yesterday, I was so excited! We put it together easily enough, but I was CRUSHED to find out that the firebox that comes with the outdoor models does not provide a heat option! We put it on our covered deck and arranged the seating area around it. It looks beautiful and very realistic, but I was hoping the kids could warm up after a swim in front of it. I called Dimplex to see if I could buy a different firebox for this model and they said no. I have a 300 pound fireplace that would cost me a gazillion dollars to return, and I do like it except for no heat, so I am keeping it. I just wanted other consumers to be aware, b/c the only line I saw referring to heat said "operates without heat." Maybe I am just stupid, but I took that to mean you can CHOOSE to operate it without heat, since all the dimplex videos were talking so much about the heater. They should have clearly stated, "Heat is not an option on the outdoor models. I feel I might have made a different choice had I known. Now it is purely for ambiance, not function. Very expensive ambiance!! Good luck.

We were very pleased with the beauty and quality of this fireplace. It is everything we wanted. Very simple to set up and use. We also like the fact that we can move it wherever we want, inside or out! It is the perfect fireplace for around a swimming pool.
